Guest designer at Hip Kit Club yay!

Hi there scrappy friends,

Today I'm sharing my first projects I created with the oh-so-bright and colorful July kits as a guest designer for Hip Kit Club!

I have a weird process when it comes to my Hip Kits. Normally I always work on one project at a time but when I receive my Hip Kits, they are so full of goodies that I have no idea what to start with! Then I pick something, start working on and about half an hour in, another idea comes to my mind...then another...Not to forget them, I start working on those projects too. So I work on about 3 layouts at the same time!

For my first post I created two layouts and two cards.I started off with Kim's house cut file but this layout actually ended up being the 3rd I finished because it just didn't want to come together. I cut it from kraft card stock because I never use kraft and wanted to try something different. I backed the file with one of the exclusive papers that had different color rectangles on it. I actually spent hours on cutting the different color pieces and backing the houses only to realize that the whole thing is way too pastel for my taste! I can't handle pastel. There. I said it. I love my bright colors! So back to square one!

I cut the houses from white card stock this time and painted them with different Shimmerz paints from this month's and previous months' color kits. Then I sewed it onto another exclusive paper with the most amazing water color print on it! I raised the middle square (I modified the cut file to have a solid square in the middle, which you can't really tell from the photos), I layered several papers and Project Life cards in this square; some on pop dots, so that my photos stand out more.

I also did some machine stitching there. Then added different embellies from the gorgeous ephemera pack and the Project Life chipboard stickers (which by the way I loved so much that I ordered all packs that were available at Scrapbook Werkstatt now ha!). I also used a Pinkfresh Studio stamp from my stash to add some black accents. For my title I used a die cut from the ephemera pack and those fabulous lime green alpha thickers (lime green is my favourite color so I was pretty happy when I saw them in the kits!).

For my smaller projects I decided to create some really quick cards that somehow match my layouts either in colors or topic.

There were 3 houses in the ephemera pack so it was kind of the obvious choice to go with those for one of my cards ha! I used white card stock for the base, then glued a scrap piece of paper in the middle. I punched some circles for the background, did some machine stitching and added my houses. Some I put on pop dots because I don't like flat designs so much. For my sentiment I used another die cut from the ephemera pack (also popped up) and added 2 pieces of chip boards, et voila! Possibly the quickest card I have ever made!

For the second layout I'm sharing today I welded a circle with the middle of Ashley's heart cut file (if that makes sense). If you know my work, you know how much I love circles...I then backed it with that beautiful water color paper I used as background for my houses too and then did a bit of machine stitching again. I put the sircle on pop dots so it stands out. I also wanted to use the chevron cut file from Ashley, but instead of cutting them as solid chevrons, I wanted only the outlines so I could back them with different papers.

Then I arranged them around my circle. Again, I layered some PL cards, papers and one of the Heidi Swapp frames behind my photo to give it a bit of height. For my title I chose a chipboard word from Bella Blvd, rubbed on some gelatos (I saw this technique done by Missy Whidden first and I can't stop using it, it's so pretty!). It didn't stand out from the background the way I wanted it so I doodled on it with a black pen.

I normally go with a lot of embellishments on a layout but here I only used a chipboard sticker and a die cut from the ephemera pack. I'm actually only noticing this now that I'm looking at the photo, ha!
For my card going with this layout I used a white card stock base again. Then I adhered another piece of white card stock on it, which I previously sprayed with some Shimmerz from the June color kit.

I then used the scrap pieces of chevrons I had left from my layout (see, not throwing away anything!), did some machine stitching and added my sentiment for which I used the exact same technique as for my layout! Another quick and easy card!
Hope you like what you see! Thank you for stopping by! XXX

Captain - DT layout for The Cut Shoppe

Hello there scrappy friends,

I'm back with you today to share my latest layout for The Cut Shoppe!

For today's layout I chose the Prickly Pineapples cut file because I've wanted to use it forever but still have not gotten around to do so. About a month or so ago I finally received my huge stack of supplies I had been building up at my friend's place in the US since last November and part of these items was one of my most favourite line ever, Citrus Bliss from Pink Paislee. Here in Germany it is not available anymore and when I found it on sale in the US, I had to have it! I just love citrus colors, I can never get enough of them! So obviously it was the line I had to work with first ha! And since this collection has pineapple designs in it, I thought I'd finally use this cute cut file!

There actually are two files in this set and I've used both. I just cut them in different sizes from white card stock, then did what most people do, backed them with various patterned papers from the Citrus Bliss collection. Some I put on pop dots to give the layout a bit of dimension. Then just placed them the way I liked them and layered my photos over them. I've added some wood veneer pieces, puffy stickers, chipboards, frames from the same collection together with some enamel dots and phrase stickers from the Simple Stories Sunshine&Happiness line. The clear stickers with black text might be Simple Stories Carpe Diem, but I am not quite certain, I don't have their packaging anymore...

For my title I chose Captain because in the second photo my son looked exactly like that ha! With his finger pointing to the sky, giving orders and all :). You can't really tell from these photos but the sun is kind of wrapped around his little finger like a halo, it's really cool! I've used some Dear Lizzy thickers for the title.

To finish it all off I've added some black splatters, like I almost always do!

Here, some more close-ups:

Hope you like! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! X

Cutie - DT LO for Scrap Our Stash

Hi there...back again!

3 posts in a day, right?! Funny how everything is happening on the same day this month!

I am up on the Scrap Our Stash blog today with a new layout for the book inspired stash challenge!

The book cover this month:

I was inspired by all the circles on the cover - you know how I love my circles! I've actually done something I don't think I have done before: I've scraplifted myself! Earlier this year I did a similar layout with different papers (it was based on an awesome sketch by Ashley Horton) but it was a gift for my best friend, so I didn't actually have a layout like this myself.

The task was to use 5 different patterned papers, I actually used more! With embellishing I had no idea what direction I was going to go when I started working on the layout. Since I've used Pinkfresh Studio papers for the circles, I just pulled out some PF embellies from my stash. I couldn't believe I in fact had many circles in an ephemera pack! Perfect match! I've also added some puffy sequins for more circles.

I hope I could get your ideas going with this layout! You still have the whole month to join us and win this prize:

So go start scrapping!
Thanks for stopping by! X

Getting to know you blog hop at The Cut Shoppe

Hello dear friends,

Us girls at The Cut Shoppe are bringing you a blog hop today, so you can get to know us better! I hope you'll hop along!

Let's start with a little Q&A :)

How many times in a week do you work on something scrapbook related?
At the moment I work on something every day because I am on sick leave and have time. When I'm working, I am only able to scrapbook at the weekends.

What is your favourite subject to scrapbook?
My son and my family.

What is your favourite color to use on your layouts/projects? What is your least favourite color?
I am a fan of colors! It can be any color, for me it more depends on the combination of colors. For instance, I am not a fan of red but I don't mind using it in a rainbow color design. But I hate it together with only yellow or with yellow and blue for instance. Having said that, green has been my most favourite color for the past 15 years or so, especially lime/citrus green. I don't like what I call Christmas green though. No darker shades!

Why do you like using cut files on your layouts/projects?
They inspire me! I often start working on a layout by looking at my cut files first, what I want to use at that moment. I find they add a fun element, dimension and texture to a project. And they are very versatile, there's a million way you can use them, modify them to make them your own unique design! I hardly ever do a layout without a cut file!

What are some of your other favourite hobbies? If you were not a scrapbooker, what other hobby do you think would consume most of your time?
I don't have any. I'm always so focused on one hobby! I changed hobbies a lot over the years, but they were all crafting: from mosaics to silk paint to cake decorating, I tried it all. That said, I wish I'd do some sport as a hobby!

Tell us 5 things we don't know about you!
OK so these will be totally random!
1. I passionately HATE cooking. I didn't use to but over the years this feeling grew and grew stronger to a point where I simply don't cook at all. Ever. Luckily my boyfriend loves cooking.
2. I'm Hungarian but have been living in Germany for almost 12 years. It was supposed to be temporary but I like it here. I always thought we'd move to Holland eventually but we keep putting it off. Hopefully one day we will because I am a fan of Holland and we would be around some family!
3. Since I scrapbook I've only bought a couple of shoes. I used to be addicted to them and buy at least 2 pairs of beautiful stilettos every month. Now they are just home deco! I have at least 10 pairs I have never worn.
4. I'm tall, 5'11". I used to hate it as a kid because I always stood out, but now I don't mind. Also, since I am with my boyfriend, I am the shortest girl around haha! (lots of tall women in his family!)
5. I never wear make up, other than mascara. You'd think at my age I'd know how to apply it but really, who has the time for it lol?!

I've created a layout for this blog hop too. I've used the "I'll fly away" cut file. I absolutely had to buy the new Millie&June line from Fancy Pants even though I generally don't scrap a lot of feminine layouts...I decided to document my special relationship with my cousin, who I grew up with and who is more like a sister to me than a cousin! Even the name of the line reminds me of the two mischievous little girls we used to be <3. So, I thought if feminine, then I might as well use this butterfly cut file finally! Take a look:

I hope you like what you see and it encourages you to use cut files! They are so fun!

Oh, and there's something to be won too! Just leave a comment below until Sunday, July 10 and I will pick a random winner who receives a $5 Gift Certificate to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store. You can win on every designer's blog so make sure to check them all out! Winners will be announced on The Cut Shoppe blog on Wednesday, July 13, so don't forget to check back that day!

Now go on, hop on over to my awesome scrappy friend, Jen McMurtrey's blog! ENJOY XXX
