Boo - DT layout for Fancy Pants Designs

Hi All,

I'm back today with some Halloween inspiration I created for Fancy Pants Designs.

We don't celebrate Halloween here. Well many families do, but I'm wondering if they even know what it is about? It is not a European holiday...

The only thing I do, if I don't forget, is buy some pumpkins so the kiddo and I can carve some. It's so easy to do, last year I had to promise him that this year we buy more so we are not ready with carving in 10 minutes! He loves it so much and was very proud he could easily do it alone. He carved the face, I carved Boo. I remember taking several pictures last year but I can't for the life of me find them. The only one I found is the one I posted on Instagram (Instagram is good for something ha!). So that is what I used for my layout.

The new Spellbound collection is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I absolutely love everything about it. I've always loved the purple added in the Halloween lines but the additional mint is just so super awesome! If you buy only one Halloween collection, you really have to get this one!

I chose a pumpkin cut file from the Silhouette Design Store for my main design element. I backed the pumpkins with two different orange papers and the leaves with some other papers from the collection. I added foam adhesive to the back so I could tuck my picture and a couple of die cuts under it.

I also tucked some tags and die cut pieces under my photo and attached a couple to my photo as well, using my tiny attacher. I love that spider web! |And I think my favorite pieces in the ephemera pack are the bats; they come in different colors, black, purples and mint. I added a few of those here too.

For my title I also chose a die cut piece that says Boo - I love the font and I like the fact that it is not big! As a last step I wrote my journaling below the spiderweb on the right side, added my date on a label at the bottom left and splattered some black ink around the page.

This is the second Halloween page I have ever made and I kept thinking while I was working on it that I wish I had more photos! Only because I love love love this collection!

I hope I could inspire you somehow, even though I'm not a pro on this topic!

Thanks for stopping by today, have a wonderful day!

Halloween cards - DT project for Fancy Pants Designs

Hi crafty friends,

Today I'm popping in to share my latest project I created for Fancy Pants Designs

This time I made three Halloween cards with the super awesome Spellbound collection. Here they are:

I picked three cut files from the Silhouette Design Store and cut all of them from black card stock.

This one below originally had Halloween written in the middle, but I removed that and instead I welded the remaining spider web with the Boo cut file that is a Halloween font, also from the Silhouette Design Store. I backed the pumpkins with orange paper to give them more definition. What I didn't notice until my kiddo pointed it out is that the pumpkins look like eyes. Even better! I adhered the cut file to a purple patterned paper, to which I added a black patterned paper and all this I glued to the white card base. To decorate the card and add some dimension, I stitched some cute buttons on and added some die cut pieces as well.

For my second card I used a circle cut file with lots of bats. I backed this with a polka dot patterned paper, added foam adhesive to its back and adhered it on my card base. This consists of 4 layers: the white card base, a black ghost patterned paper, orange and mint papers. To embellish it I picked out some die cut pieces from the ephemera pack. Isn't that owl the cutest?!

For the third card, which I actually made first, I used the negative cut file. This one took a while to piece back together as I backed it with different patterned papers! All the small pieces had to be glued down one by one. For the sentiment I used my favorite striped paper from this collection and for the rest I used some mint, orange and purple papers. Then I glued all this down on top of an orange patterned paper and a white card base.

I love how these turned out and since we don't celebrate Halloween, I'll be sure to send these to American friends!  They won't be wasted :).

I hope you are inspired to create your own Halloween cards and surprise some friends with them!

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Halloween mini album - DT project for Paige Evans + Silhouette

Hey there scrappy friends,

I'm back today with a Halloween themed mini album for the Paige Evans + Silhouette DT.

Since we don't do Halloween, but we do buy pumpkins to carve, I thought I could document our first pumpkin patch experience in this mini! I didn't even know there were pumpkin patches here in Germany! We just happened upon one on Facebook no less, so we thought we'd check it out. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday, what else to do anyway?

I wanted to create a pumpkin shaped mini, using pumpkins in all shapes and kinds. Paige has quite a few cut files to choose from, I've picked Pumpkin (ID #222477 -my favourite!), Cat O Lantern (ID #216708) and Pumpkin Trio (ID #222474) for my pages.

I used the awesome new Spellbound collection from Fancy Pants Designs for the whole album. I planned out the pages in the Studio program more or less, then cut them from various patterned papers. For my cover I used the above mentioned Pumpkin cut file (ID #222477), for the title I cropped the Hocus Pocus cut file (ID #220851). I wanted to hang that funny little corpse on the front too - this is the Skeleton cut file (ID #219447).

I created a pocket on the first page, where I hid the journaling and a couple of tags. For the next page I used one of the pumpkins in the Pumpkin Trio cut file (ID #222474). I added a photo and a couple of ephemera pieces.

Here I combined the pumpkin with another cut file: the Bat Background (ID #221100) and backed it with different patterned papers. I glued together two of the Halloween banner pieces from the Spellbound collection so I have an image on both sides, then punched a hole in it and added it as a decorative element to my mini.

The next page is using the Cat O Lantern cut file (ID #216708), I just used the outline of it, without the cat.

On the back however, I left the cat in there and didn't add a photo so one can see the design. I added some hand stitching to define the cat better. There is an acetate sheet with a cobweb design in the Spellbound collection - I created a shaker element from this. I filled it with a mix of sequins and patterned paper confetti.

The next one is again just a filler page without photo. I adhered the Spider web cut file (ID #216765) to this page plus a couple of pieces from the ephemera pack.

On the back side I added a photo and a couple of tags, labels and die cuts. For the next page I used another pumpkin from the Pumpkin Trio cut file, and I combined this with the Candy Corn Background cut file (ID #222459) - If you don't know how to do this, I have a video on my YouTube channel (Floral Heart) where I do the exact same technique. I backed the candy corns with different patterned papers - I did not want to add yellow to this album, so these are non traditional candy corns now hehe! The owl is from the ephemera pack.

On the other side there's another photo and all three pumpkins from the Pumpkin Trio cut file. Next up another filler page, here I cut the Trick or Treat Yoself cut file (ID #222489) from black card stock and backed it with patterned papers. You can't really tell in the picture but it's teeny tiny and so cute, it fits in my hand! I'm so glad my Cameo could cut it this nice even in such a small size. It isn't always the case!

Picture again on the back, together with some tags, labels and die cuts. On my last page I used the negative pieces I had left over from the Bat Background cut file I used on a previous page, plus a couple of die cut bats and stars from the ephemera pack.

I took apart the mini to show you all the pages, maybe the details are easier to see this way:

That's it! I hope I could inspire you to create a simple mini album like this!

Till next time,

X

Daydreamer - DT layout for Just Nick

Hey there,

I'm back again with a new layout I created for Just Nick this month!

This time I used the Loopy Circle Background cut file. You probably know by now how much I love my circles, so obviously I had to use this cut file :).

I used the beautiful new Bohemian Dreams collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I cut the design from white textured card stock and partially backed the circles with different patterned papers. I didn't want to back the full circles to allow for some dimension.

I had to dig out some photos of myself, which I don't have a lot of, because this collection is so feminine! I'm a sucker for all things feminine but I've never liked having my photo taken...Anyway, I've found a couple of old pictures, this is one of them. In fact it's a part of a series which is why I did not add any journaling to this particular layout. I will add it to another layout using a different photo from this series.

I glued down my cut file, only attaching the parts where you see patterned paper. This way the rest of the cut file lifts off the page a little. I adhered my photo on top and embellished around it. For this I used die cuts, chip boards, stickers, tags, labels and a flair button. I tucked some of these behind the photo in several layers, some I glued onto my photo directly. I love layers!

For my title I used some old American Crafts alpha thickers, I'm not sure which collection these belonged to.

To finish off my layout, I added a few drops of blue ink and stamped my date.

It's a simple layout, but I like how it turned out. I hope you like it too!

Thank you for stopping by today! I'll be back with new inspiration next month!

Have a wonderful day,

History - DT layout for Just Nick

Hi there scrappy friends,

This week the Just Nick DT is delivering fall themed inspirations to you.

My contribution is a layout for which I used one of my favorite Just Nick cut files (one that I used many times before), the Leaf Cluster. So gorgeous, am I right?!

I paired this awesome cut file with my favorite fall collection of all time, Golden Days by Fancy Pants. It's a collection from 2016 and I am so glad I bought loads of extras because really there's nothing prettier in my opinion! The colors and patterns are beautiful and the combination of colors is just so unique. I love everything non-traditional!

First, I arranged the cut file in the Studio program like I wanted; one bigger one in the top left and a smaller one in the right bottom corner. I then cropped these and cut them from white card stock.

Next up, backing the cuts with patterned papers. I'll be honest, I had a hard time choosing papers because I wanted to use all papers, each side! It pretty much never happens that I like every single paper in a collection but these are so gorgeous, all of them!

Once done, I glued down the top one and added foam adhesive to the bottom one so I could tuck my photo behind it a little. By the way, my photo was totally not taken in the fall, it is from July this year. We took a day trip to the amazing Oak Tree Plantation not so far from New Orleans. I have all these photos of the gorgeous oak trees and I thought they fit fall colors and collections better. I have already scrapped a couple with the Creekside collection from 1Canoe2.

For my title I chose History, because the plantation has so much history! We took a guided tour around the main house and had such an awesome time. Our guide was a local girl, all dressed up in a costume and she shared everything there is to know about the owners and life at the plantation. It was all so interesting, Maxim didn't complain for a second that he is bored. He even asked questions from our guide. Also, on a totally unrelated note, I love love love the Southern accent, it's so charming!

I wrote my journaling on a tag that I tucked behind the photo. I added a gold leaf clip, a gold acetate word and a flair button. This one I am particularly happy about because I never in my life thought I would be able to use a USA map button ha! It was a part of a set I bought from the lovely Shelley at A flair for buttons ages ago. Which reminds me I am running low on flair buttons...

I stamped the date on a label and attached this below the photo. I tucked in a couple of die cuts under my photo and glued some on top of it.

I added some gold ink splatters and done!

I hope you'll be inspired to create fall layouts now! |Go get crafty!
Thanks for stopping by!
