Spellbinders Jane Davenport Artomology collection - Part 3

Hello crafty friends,

I'm back with my third and last blog post in my Jane Davenport Artomology series! If you've missed the previous two, you can find them here and here.

For today's post I've made a scrapbook layout and a card using the Fair Feathers Etched dies. The idea is the same on both, a dreamcatcher. Besides the dies I also received a couple of other products from this collection, and I really didn't want to waste them! There are two packages of washi sheets (Washi Girls and Washi Mermaids) and  with amazing designs that would make stunning art journal pages, but since I don't do art journals, I decided to come up with something else. I took a sheet from the Washi Girls set, because it's got a rainbow of colors on it, and stuck it on white card stock. I first die cut a circle around the sentiment for my card so I knew what I have left of the paper.

Then I die cut a bunch of feathers from the remaining paper. I actually used up all of it! I love that my feathers are an array of color!

I trimmed my photo into a circle and die cut another big circle from a patterned paper from the Fancy Pants On Our Way collection. I placed them on foam adhesive to give them dimension and also so I can tuck the twine under it that I was going to hang the feathers from. Next I hung all the feathers on the twine as well as a few other things like journaling spots, tags and die cuts and glued them in place. I added a few buttons to some of the feathers and a couple of embellishments around my photo. I wrote my journaling on one of the tags, stamped my date, and that's about it!

As for the card...Like I mentioned above, I die cut the text from the washi sheet which I found to be a great sentiment. I used a basic circle die for this. I then added a couple of different yellow watercolors as well as some black splatters to an A2 size white card stock and let it dry. Then I adhered this panel onto an A2 size top folding card base.

I checked where I wanted to have the circle on my card. Then I just glued 3 feathers on the card front and layered the circle on them. I wrapped some twine around the circle and tied a bow at the top. Done!

I hope I could inspire you in some small way to go and start crafting!

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Spellbinders Jane Davenport Artomology collection - Part 2

Hi there crafty friends,

I'm back today with the second part of my 3 blog post series showcasing the gorgeous new exclusive Jane Davenport collection at Spellbinders, called Artomology! If you've missed my first post, you can find it here.

I have 3 cards for you today, all using the same Sunflower Journal Etched die in slightly different ways.

For my first card I die cut two flowers from a light pink patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane collection (I actually used this collection on all my cards today). I then backed one of the flowers with 2 different pink patterned papers.

I die cut some stems and leaves - also backed two of the leaves with green patterned paper. I've made an A2 size top folding card base, then cut a striped patterned paper piece for my card front, also A2 size.

I played around with arrangements until I finally settled on this one. I adhered the left flower to the background as is, then added the second one, that I backed with patterned paper, on top of it using foam adhesive. To finish off this card, I placed an embossed sentiment on the flower and flicked some black ink all over it.

For my next card I chose a pink/black/white color scheme. I die cut the flowers 3 times, from 3 different patterned papers. I backed one with a polka dot paper and white card stock, then placed the other two on top and adhered them down slightly offset, so all 3 can be seen.

I didn't cut stems this time, only a bunch of leaves from a black patterned paper. I then prepared my card base, which again is A2 sized and top folding. I added some striped, some polka dot papers on top, then glued down my embossed sentiment too.

I used foam adhesive to adhere my flower to my card base. I tucked some gold tangled thread under it. A few black ink splatters and done!

I wanted my last card to be a bit more artsy, so I drew the stem and leaves with a blue pen on an A2 size white card stock. I die cut the flower from this panel as well as some patterned paper. I adhered the panel on an A2 size top folding card base, placed the blue flower in the cut out and glued it down.

Because I am sooo bad at throwing scraps away, I simply used some leftovers to piece the flower back together. The strips in the middle I raised a bit with foam adhesive, just to add some dimension and interest.

I embossed a piece of card stock with WOW! Copacabana Embossing Powder (my fave color at the moment!) then die cut a sentiment from it. This sentiment is included in the You Are Unique Etched die set and I find the shape and size perfect for this card!

I added some navy and coral paint splatters as well as some Bronze Nuvo drops for finishing touches.

That's it for today! I hope you like my projects!

I'll be back with my last post featuring Artomology in a couple of days!

Until then...Have a lovely day!

Spellbinders Jane Davenport Artomology collection - Part 1

Hello there crafty friends,

I'm super excited to join Spellbinders for another 3 blog post series - this time creating with a very special and unique Exclusive Collection, Artomology, by the one and only Jane Davenport! Now if you know my work, you know that I actually rarely do mixed media, but I was super intrigued by the metal dies because they are so different from what I normally use! A totally different style for me, that is fantastic for art journals, but I was up for the challenge to come up with projects that are still my style. I hope you'll like them! I personally can't wait to see what all the other guest designer have come up with!

Today I'm sharing these two cards:

Before I get into the details on the cards...would you check out those amazing dies?! They are TEAL!!! Because, you know, the color of a die is very important, haha! Yes, I am that shallow! I squeeled when I first unpacked them. There is also an Exclusive Jane Davenport die cutting machine (it's the Platinum 6 in Jane's signature design), and it's got PINK plates! I die! (No pun intented). The machine is super pretty and works like a charm! Check it out here!

OK, so about the cards. I wanted to work with a paper collection I haven't used yet, so I picked out the summery On Our Way collection from Fancy Pants Designs. For my first card I die cut both flowers from the Sea Flower Etched Dies pack from white card stock. I backed them with a rainbow stripe patterned paper. I then created an A2 size top folding card base and glued a piece of patterned paper in the same size on the front. I also added 2 different strips of papers at the bottom. For my sentiment I chose a die cut from the same Fancy Pants collection and layered it on top, using foam adhesive. A super simple card for you!

For my second card I chose to work with the Mertail and the Mermaid for Each Other Etched dies. This card is even quicker than the first one! I made an A2 size top folding card base. Then I added some shimmery blue watercolor to an A2 size white card stock (not even watercolor paper). While it was drying, I die cut the mermaid tail from a rainbow plaid patterned paper and the waves from dark blue patterned paper. I assembled the card, glued the panel on the card base, then glued down the waves and the mermaid tail. I found this destination sign in the Fancy Pants ephemera pack and thought it would be perfect for this card. It reminds me of the signs we saw in Venice and other parts of Italy when we were sailing. I added this using foam adhesive.

That's all from me for now! I'll be back soon with more projects, I hope you'll check them out!

Thank you for stopping by today! I wish you a lovely day!
