Reflections - Jan 15 Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash

Hello and welcome to the second challenge of 2016 at Scrap Our Stash! This time it is a sketch challenge. As a reminder, the prize in January is a Simple Stories You&Me 12x12 set! It is not too late to play along, you might be the lucky winner! Both challenges are open till January 29.

The sketch this month was created by Rochelle and it's pretty awesome! Together with this sketch, you need to use one item from each of the 3 columns to fulfil this challenge (this is the stash part of the challenge!).

I've followed the sketch pretty closely because I really liked it. I do love my cut files, so when I saw the circle I knew I was going to go for some kind of circle cut file. I've found this Christmas bauble in the Silhouette Store and thought it looked pretty neat! Had to have it (and another five, just to make sure I have something to choose from haha). I've painted the lightbulbs on it with my new favourite gold and magenta Shimmerz paints.

Generally I don't go for simple, clean designs (I like a bit of mess!) so I've matted my photos with torn papers and added a chipboard frame too for dimension. Plus I've added some gold metallic thread under the photos.

The papers, even though they might not look like it, are actually all Christmas papers from various manufacturers.

The stash I've used according to the challenge rules:
List 1: American Crafts (Dear Lizzy Fine&Dandy gold number vellum)
List 2: Basic Grey (Juniper Berry Rooftop paper)
List 3: Chipboard (Maggie Holmes Shine collection: frame, bow, heart locket, cross)

Hope you like! Thanks for stopping by XXX

First layouts on the I KROPKA design team - aka what happens when my Cameo quits on me!

Hi there,

I am so honored and excited to have been chosen for the I KROPKA Design Team for this term! I hope to be able to inspire you in some way!

I am in love with their chipboards! They look like wood veneer and are of such great quality. When I got my package full of awesomeness I just couldn't wait to dig in! I've ordered a lot of Christmas themed chipboards because I still have many photos from the holidays that I haven't scrapped yet... So here are my first layouts, I hope you enjoy!

Chipboards I've used:

Street lamps 1 (embossed)
Street lamps 2 (embossed)
Snow (painted and embossed)
Frame (for this I've used the frame this frame set came in!) (misted)

Chipboards I've used:

Mat under the photo (I've actually used the inner part of this frame, I throw nothing away ha!)

Chipboards I've used:

Christmas baubles (embossed)
Girland (embossed)

Chipboards I've used:

Standard pine trees (some embossed, some left plain)
Funky trees (some embossed, some left plain)
Silhouette trees (some embossed, some left plain)
Snow (painted and embossed)
This gorgeous grey background paper is also from I KROPKA :)

Last but not least I've challenged myself to make cards (I never do) for a friend who also sent me some cards! And because watercoloring relaxes me :D. Here they are:

Chipboards I've used:

Star (embossed)
Funky trees (embossed)

Thanks for stopping by!

See you here next month for a pretty cool challenge and some more inspirations! XXX

Sail sail away - my first layout on the Scrap Our Stash Design Team eeeek!

Hi there,

I will not deny, I am very excited. My very first layout at my very first DT gig is finally here! And because I was so excited, I actually already finished this page beginning of December ha! I just had to wait weeks to be able to share it with you :).

From January this year the challenges at SOS are in a bit of a new format. There will be two challenges each month: the first one is always a book inspired stash challenge, the second one is a sketch challenge. Please check the SOS blog for details and join us for the challenges! It's not only a lot of fun but you can also win some yummy goodies :). This month a Simple Stories You&Me 12x12 set!

Without further ado, here is the first book cover challenge and my interpretation:

For the Dr. Seuss book cover inspired challenge I drew my inspiration from the colors. I am not familiar with the content of these books but I do know the illustrations and always found them so cool!

I chose a black and white background paper to resemble the famous hand sketched design of the characters. The blue and red combo always reminds me of sea/sailing themed things and as luck would have it, this year we went sailing and I still have some photos to scrap of our adventure!

I chose a cut file that reminded me of boat helms a little bit and I backed these with different blue and red papers. The photo I printed in black and white too, to match the color theme. For the title I used one of my favorite thickers which I thought fit the Cat in the Hat design perfectly!

I've added some embellishments and the required white paint splatters and there you have it, my first layout!

I hope you like!
Please check the blog post at Scrap Our Stash too!
Thanks for looking!

A few new layouts!

Well hello there,

Today is a big day for me, because my first design will be published on the Scrap Our Stash blog this afternoon eeeeek! Pls check back later, I will have a post on that too!

But first, I will share a couple of layouts I've done just for fun!

Well actually this first one I did for the January sketch challenge at Scrapbook Werkstatt. I really liked the sketch and the design team did an awesome job with it! They inspired me to do something fresh, not so wintery :).

But these next ones I didn't do for any challenges:

Hope you like! Thanks for stopping by! You'd make my day if you left a comment xxxxxx
