Altenew 5th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 1 + Giveaway

I've created three new cards for today using the gorgeous Build a Flower: Poppy stamp and die bundle. While I love the beautiful orange and red poppies (especially those amazing California poppies!), on my cards I never really aspire to reflect realistic colors - as in, I never care what color something is in real life. I don't want to be limited by colors, I will use whatever appeals to me in the moment I create it. If that makes any sense :)


All three cards are on a 5.5x4.25" top folding card base. For one I just stamped the flowers randomly on white card stock and die cut a banner shape from it using the awesome Pocket Banner die. I used this die on all three cards as you can see. I love it so much! 


I stamped some more flowers on white card stock and die cut them, to create a more dimensional focal point. I added a bit of gold tangled thread for some texture. I love metallic threads!


On my third card I first embossed the outline of one of the poppy images using the Pure White Crisp embossing powder. I then added a second, stamped and die cut poppy image. I also embossed the sentiment. All three sentiments I used here are part of the Build a Flower: Poppy stamp and die bundle.


I hope you like how these turned out as much as I loved working on them! Colors and flowers make me happy!

Rainbows - DT project for Pinkfresh Studio

Hi there,

I'm stopping by to share my two latest layouts for Pinkfresh Studio! Like everyone, I too love rainbows! Rainbow is my favorite color :). So when I first saw the Out and About collection, I was ecstatic that there was a rainbow stripe paper in there! Of course it was the first thing I had to use!

This is a wonderful, colorful travel line, which is awesome because I do have loads of travel pictures to scrap.

For my first layout I die cut a big title from the New Places paper and a slightly bigger title from white card stock so I could stack them up and have a white outline around my letters.


I chose the Traveler paper for background so that the bright rainbow colors pop. I added foam adhesive to the title and glued it in place. I then layered tissue paper and tags behind my photo and attached these to the background too.


I added one of the stitched frames on top and started embellishing around it with a couple of puffy, epoxy and layered stickers - all part of the Mixed Embellishments pack. I wrote my journaling on one of the tags and stamped my date on this too.


To finish off this layout, I added a torn piece of the New Places paper at the bottom of the page. 


On my second page I used a cut file that will soon be available in the Pinkfresh Studio Facebook Fan group, so if you are not yet a member, make sure you join today! You can find the freebie cut files in this album! 


I backed the big flower with the Tickets and Explore papers, then drew the other flower and the leaves on different patterned papers (Bucket List, Scenic Route and Traveler) and fussy cut them out. I made a couple of sizes so I could layer them up to create dimension. I stitched the layers of the leaves together and adhered them to the cut files. I placed some enamel dots from the Mixed Embellishments pack in the middle of the yellow flower.


I then stitched down the whole cut file on the Travel Icons paper that I chose for my background. I drew around the negative cut outs and fussy cut them out from the New Places paper. I could have done this with my Cameo but I only had scraps of the New Places paper and I wanted to make sure I have the same pattern/colors in the openings. I added foam dots to these and placed them back in the globe. 


I layered a couple of tags behind my photo and tucked it all in behind the big flower. I added a few die cuts and puffy stickers around the photo. I wrote my journaling along the bottom and side of the globe - and this finishes off my layout!

Heights - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello lovelies,

I'm stopping by to share my latest layout I've made for the Paige Evans Design Team, which is also my very first layout with the stunning Horizon collection! Gosh you guys, I'm so in love with the papers in this collection! I mean the whole collection is fabulous but the papers are just phenomenal! I actually worked on 3 layouts in parallel because I couldn't decide which color combo to work with first!

So here's the first! I chose a blue-pink-orange combo for this one and die cut a lot of circles in different sizes. I used some basic circle dies from Spellbinders for these.


This is one of my favorite layout designs without cut files! I've done many pages like this before, but because of the colors and patterns, they always end up looking different. In my opinion anyway :).


I simply layered up the circles, I added foam adhesive here and there for additional dimension, and played around a bit with different arrangements. Once I was happy with the placements, I glued down the circles. I added foam adhesive to my photo as well and attached it to the background. I then started embellishing my page: I fussy cut some butterflies from one of the patterned papers, added a few chipboard and epoxy stickers and pretty much done!


I placed my title around one of the circles, and wrote the journaling below it, following the same curve. I also added my date.


I tied some twine around my photo, just for a little something something. That's it! Easy peasy :)
