Right Now - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello there crafty people,

I'm sharing my last layout with you for this year! WOW how fast this year went by again...I can't even believe it!

This layout was inspired by my uber talented DT peer, Steffi Ried! I actually was going to flat out copy hers because I loved it so much, but when I was working on it, the layout just kept changing lol. 

This tree paper is one of my favorites in Paige's Truly Grateful collection, it's such a sweet and colorful design. For a long time I had no idea what photo I could use with it, but then we went biking in the forest one weekend and it just all made sense.

I fussy cut all the trees, then layered them up, glued them together along the middle so I could bend up the sides to create some dimension. In retrospect, I could have added some colorful hand stitching to the branches but I didn't think of it at the time.

I chose a polka dot paper for my background and I added a wide strip of green paper as a reference to the forest, if that makes sense? I added a few layers of tissue paper behind my photo, then tucked it all in behind some trees. I didn't add a whole lot of embellishments: a date label, an epoxy sticker bird and a die cut banner around my photo as well as puffy dots in between the trees!

For my title I chose one of the epoxy sticker phrases because I love the font so much! It would have been a shame not to use it! I wrote my journaling next to the title, kind of filling up the empty space there.

Shenanigans - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello there crafty friends,

Can you guys believe it's December already?! I can't even. I don't have any Christmas layouts for you this year uh-oh. Things have been hectic around here, I'm sure most of you can relate! For the first time in almost 5 years I don't get to scrapbook every day. Oftentimes not even every week. If you know me, that is...just...not...acceptable!

I'm sharing this super simple big title page today that came together fairly quickly. Which is great this time of year when no one has time!

I blew up the Shenanigans cut file (Design ID: 297831) in the Studio software and placed it at a diagonal. Once I was satisfied with the size and placement, I die cut it from white textured card stock.

I then backed the letters with various blue and green patterned papers from the beautiful Truly Grateful collection. I adhered the cut file to my chosen background paper - placing the photo behind the letter G.

I didn't embellish much this time, but I felt like this page didn't need more. Maybe I'm just changing and use less stuff on my layouts? God I hope not, I have sooo.much.stuff :D. Anyhow, I went with wooden buttons, wood veneers and card stock stickers. I even added a few fussy cut sentiments I had left from one of the Whimsical papers. I love that paper, it has sentiments in all colors of the rainbow so if I need an embellishment in a certain color, I almost always find something on that paper that works with my project ha! 

Last but not least, I stamped the date and wrote my journaling. Done!

Belgian waffles are the best - DT layout for Paige Evans

I'm stopping by today to share a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team, using the awesome Truly Grateful collection!

My Cameo is not working at the moment (ever since the latest software update, go figure) so I had to come up with a layout without a cut file. The obvious choice was using the flower die cut pack, quick and easy! And I haven't used them yet so win win!

I arranged the flowers at the top and the bottom of my page. I used the ones with the white edge for the bottom layer and added a bunch of single blooms with foam tape. Some of these are part of the die cut pack, others are fussy cut from one of the patterned papers. I had these left from a previous project. I'm always happy when I have fussy cut elements ready to go! By the way, should you be interested, I used almost 2 pack of die cuts.

I layered some tissue paper behind my photo and glued it all in place. I tucked some labels behind it too, for some color. Using foam tape, I also added a bunch of word stickers off to the right.

I wanted to add a long title, so I didn't use the alphas from Truly Grateful, since those are big. Instead I went with the foam mini alphas from the Whimsical collection. I love that they are so colorful, the font is simple so it fits everything and the size is perfect! I glued down my title off to the left and wrote my journaling next to it.

I added a few wooden buttons on top of some of the flowers, for texture, dimension and interest. Last but not least, I splattered some white paint on the floral borders. 

That's it! Quick and easy, like I said! I hope I could inspire you to use your flower die cut packs, I know I've been hoarding them!

Last minute Halloween decor idea - DT project for Paige Evans

Hello crafty friends,

Happy Halloween to all of you who celebrate it! It's funny, I seem to have a blog post scheduled every year on Halloween! I don't mind though, I love working on Halloween projects even if we don't actually celebrate it. 

Some months ago I bought a few different gold hoops at my favorite store here in Germany, thinking I could create wreaths for all kinds of occasions. Well, this is the first haha! 

Paige has soooo many awesome Halloween themed cut files, it was really hard to choose. I was looking for a spider web in the shape of a heart I remembered seeing but didn't find it, so I went with an older cut file, Spiderweb (Design ID: 216765) - once I cut it, I found the other one I was looking for hahaha: Spiderweb Heart with Spider (Design ID: 304677), plus a second one, Spiderweb Heart (Design ID: 278648)!

My ring is just a bit smaller than 12" so I cut the spiderweb as big as I could from a 12" black card stock so that it has some overhang. Not all ends are long enough but there's a few I could attach to the ring.

I die cut some bats too in various sizes from the same card stock - for these I used the Bat Background (Design ID: 221100) cut file. 

I then went through Paige's collections to find some purple, orange and green papers for my flowers.  There's actually quite a few of these, and, in retrospect, I probably should have used more to add different hues of these 3 colors. :( I also regret using my Oh My Heart orange paper when I only had one while I have several orange papers from other collections. Ugh!

Now, I don't quite remember which cut files I used exactly but I'll try to be as precise as possible! Honestly, you can use any of Paige's layered and rolled flower cut files, they are all amazing!

I used my hot glue gun to assemble all the flowers. I then covered about half of the ring with a lime green elastic band I bought for my traveler's notebooks years ago. You could use ribbon too, whatever you have in your stash!

Oh, one more thing I die cut, the BOO sentiment - I just used the Impact font for these.

Once everything was die cut and assembled, I could start putting my wreath together! I attached parts of the spider web to the elastic band, others to the ring, using hot glue. I arranged my flowers and glued them in place. The big letters followed, finally the bats. I added a few enamel dots to the middle of the layered flowers. Last but not least I attached some ribbon in coordinating colors, so I could hang the wreath on our door.

That's pretty much it! I already forgot how much I love working on rolled flowers!

Cards for boys - DT project for Paige Evans

Hello there crafty people,

I'm stopping by today to share a bunch of cards I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team. None of which features flowers...wait whaaaaat?! I'm all for flowers. I mean, I'd always go with flowers on any card, especially when I don't use stamps. When I was a little girl, I got a book from a botanist friend of my parents, called "Zsófi kertje" (Zsófi's garden), because I loved flowers so much (plus she thought the little girl on the cover looked liked me haha). She figured maybe I'd become a botanist myself - a thought that never actually crossed my mind for some reason. In fact, I am so bad with plants it's comical. So I'll just stick to paper flowers that can't die on me :D. BUT lately I've realized I never have cards that my son can give to his friends, so I decided to make a few to have on hand when he needs them.

I've mostly used the Truly Grateful collection plus a few things from Horizon too. I went with a blue-green color scheme because there's plenty of papers and embellies in these colors in both collections. All of my cards are mounted on A2 size top folding card bases, which is my preferred format for my cards. 

I then selected and cut a few of Paige's cut files: Anchor (Design ID: 300203), Llama Alpaca (Design ID: 293591), Today is a Good Day (Design ID: 290292), Star (Design ID: 289468) and Fish Background (Design ID: 299191). I more or less designed the cards in Silhouette Studio already, so that I knew what size the cut files should be. I then backed them all with patterned papers.

The sentiments were a bit tricky and I swear I spent the most time on selecting those! I would have preferred to write Happy Birthday on all of them but I didn't want to use a stamped sentiment so I just went through all embellishments from both collections, multiple times, before I finally settled on these five. I like my sentiments to be meaningful - as in, I want to use something that makes sense when I give the card to someone. I didn't just want to add some random die cut. So you see why this part took me ages haha! But I think most of these will work for birthdays or at least as "just because" friends cards or so.

I was going to back this big Today is a Good Day sentiment but quickly changed my mind when I saw the size once it was cut ha! The thought of cutting al those miniature letters was just too overwhelming! Instead, I cut a bunch of strips of various patterned papers - which I've been loving to do for awhile - and created a colorful background. I then just glued the cut file on top. I added some of the inner pieces too, for interest.

I had to make a llama card because Maxim loooooves llamas. I'm not sure he will be too excited about the bling I put on it but he does have a friend who appreciates everything shiny, glitter etc :D. I used some dies to create my background as well as an embossing folder to add texture to the white paper at the top. This sentiment comes from one of the 2x2 paper pads!

Personally, I love this last card the most. I fell in love with this cut file when Missy used it on her amazing layout a while back and I've been wanting to use it ever since. Fish work for boys cards just fine :).

Make Your Own Magic - DT layout for Paige Evans

I'm back with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team! I haven't made a layout in like 2 months?! I've realised I can't focus on both cards and layouts at the same time, I have to be finished with all my cards before I can start working on my layouts. This is mainly because of lack of space - if I had a craft room, I could just set everything aside and work on other things. Now however, I have to clean up my tiny space in the kitchen ALL.THE.TIME before I can start on a new project uuuggghh. Anywho, I am just glad I finally managed to create some layouts! This is one of them:

I checked Paige's latest cut files and picked out the gorgeous Cut and Fold Butterflies Galore cut file (Design ID: 300213). I only kept one of the butterflies and deleted the rest. I then replicated it and lined them up the way I was planning to use them. 

To be honest I was going for something completely different but when I was checking the patterned papers and placed this floral one behind the cut file, I knew I had to use it. I just love all the colors peeking through - they remind me of paintball splatters for some reason! So I trimmed down the white card stock and adhered it to the left side of the floral patterned paper. I also added a thin strip of pink paper on the right side.

I layered some tissue paper, as well as a couple of journaling spots behind my photo, then glued it all down. I tucked some labels behind it too. Using foam tape I attached a small die cut banner with an epoxy sticker heart on top.

For my title I chose one from the Epoxy sticker pack -I love love love the font so much, I wish there were several packs like this in the collection haha! I adhered it to my layout, wrote a few words below it and stamped my date. Last but not least, I splattered some gold paint all over my page. Now that I have a couple of extra bottles of my favorite gold spray, I'm not stingy with it anymore hehe!

Truly Grateful card inspirations - DT project for Paige Evans

I'm stopping by today to share my latest projects for the Paige Evans Design Team.

This time I was asked to make some cards - which of course I don't mind, I love making cards, especially using patterned papers! I've used the stunning Truly Grateful collection to create this trio.

All these cards are top folding A2 size cards. On the first one I created a shaker window, with the help of some older Waffle Flower dies. I cut out a circle from patterned paper then layered a piece of acetate behind it and attached it to the card base using foam adhesive. Obviously before I did this, I placed some gorgeous Truly Grateful sequins on my card base, where the window would go :). I glued down the big die cut flower, then embellished the card front with flowers from the ephemera pack. Last but not least, I added a sentiment sticker and some gold splatters.

On my next card I also used the same die - I actually die cut this flower from 3 patterned papers and white card stock, then mixed up the pieces as you can see in the photos. Here I first adhered patterned paper on my card base, then added a slightly smaller piece of white card stock. I glued down the big flowers, sentiment sticker, small flower, some epoxy sticker dots and attached a big button in the flower center. To finish off this card, I placed some teeny tiny butterfly die cuts on the flowers and splattered gold ink all around the card front.

My third and last card is the simplest of them all! I covered my card base with patterned paper, added two thin strips of paper in the middle as well as a big, layered butterfly (the die is from Concord&9th). A sentiment sticker, gold splatters and some twine finish off this card. Easy peasy!

Yes - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello crafty friends,

I'm back today with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team! I actually made another boys layout - I hope some of you will be happy about it! There were some comments in Paige's Facebook group how there is not enough boy layout inspiration out there and sadly, I have to agree. I guess one of the reasons is that we, women, often love flowers, butterflies, hearts and all things girly! I know I do. When I started scrapbooking I hardly ever used feminine things on my layouts and boy, it was hard! I say, use whatever you want on your layouts, don't limit yourselves by what other people consider to be the "norm" or acceptable! Then of course there's the other thing...Most companies make very feminine collections, there really isn't many products to choose from when it comes to boys! Or if there is, the colors are always the same, blue, orange, maybe gray and green. Which is why I actually love Paige's collections, because there's literally all the colors of the rainbow in them and as such, you can easily come up with color combos that are great for boys. Truly Grateful, the collection I've used on today's project, has lots of generic embellies too that work on any layout!

The cut file I chose is called Diced Circles (Design ID: 246538) - I just added an outline so that I could use the die cut as a separate layer, and it was not just a shape in my background - if that makes any sense! At this point I didn't have ideas as to what to do with it, I just wanted to back it first. I chose various shades of blue and green papers and went from darkest to lightest. Well, kind of. And then the unimaginable happened...

What a mess! Glue all over my cut file and patterned paper, ohemgee!!! It happened at night and with my boy asleep, I could not use my Cameo, so I had to come up with something to save whatever I could. I cut out the damaged piece and right away I had an idea! What if I cut it apart and puzzle it all back together, like a pie chart or so? 

I printed a big photo to fill in the empty space - it's kinda awesome how Maxim's T-shirt has similar color stripes as the papers I chose for my cut file! Total accident. 

I played with the arrangement for quite a while...I kept cutting the cut file into more pieces because I didn't like the shape haha! Some of the pie pieces have a white border, some don't, but this seemed like the only way to go and to be honest it doesn't bug me much. I added foam adhesive behind some of them for some dimension and interest. I went through all embellies, picked out whatever matched my chosen colors and scattered them around the circle. I added my title plus some additional words, just because I liked the colors and they fit the theme of my picture. I stitched these down so they stay put for sure.

To finish off my page, I wrote my (barely visible) journaling and added my date. Done!
