This is Our Happy Place - DT Layout for Paige Evans

Hi there crafty friends,

I'm stopping by today to share a new layout with you that I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! I've used Paige's newest, gorgeous collection, Bungalow Lane. 

Since this is a fall themed collection, I wanted to make a layout with some kind of fall element to it, like leaves for instance. I haven't taken any photos yet this fall, so I went with a summer photo. Unfortunately we had pretty much fall weather on our summer holiday, so I thought this photo will work just fine!

Lucky for me, all colors that are in my picture, are also available in Bungalow Lane - so basically I just pulled out all patterned papers that matched my photo. I then resized the Large Leaf cut file (Design ID: D-306955) to have a variation of sizes (I believe I had 3 or 4 different sizes) and die cut a bunch of leaves from each patterned paper I selected. I cut two layers for each of my leaves.

I then glued the two layers together - adding only a tiny bit of liquid glue in the middle, since I wanted to stitch down the middle with my sewing machine. 

I bent up the sides of the leaves to give them a bit of dimension. Using one of our smaller plates as a template, I fussy cut out a circle from white, textured card stock. Obviously this would have been quicker with my Cameo, but I didn't think of it when I cut my leaves and then later I was too lazy to go upstairs again haha! Hence old school tools!

I adhered the white circle in the middle of my page, then I roughly arranged the leaves around it. Once I was happy with how it looked, I started gluing them down, to create a wreath. 

I layered some tissue paper behind my photo, as well as a few pieces of die cuts on both sides. I added some foam tape as well, because I adhered the picture on top of the leaves. By the way, I flattened out and glued down the leaves that were under my photo, just so I didn't have as much dimension. 

I then went through all embellishments and picked out some that went with my colors scheme: some card stock stickers, chipboard stickers, foam stickers and ephemera pieces. I stamped my date on a label sticker and partially tucked it in behind my photo.

I added a decorative border sticker at the bottom, as well as my journaling and my title. For my title I used one of the larger foam stickers. I placed some scallop chipboard stickers on the opposite side at the top, to create a more balanced overall design.

Beach Day - DT Layout for Paige Evans

I'm back with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team! Obviously I've used the beautiful new Bungalow Lane collection! I was so drawn to the scallop paper - it's a design that Paige had in previous collections as well, and I've always loved creating different layout designs with it. I have made a similar one to today's page before, I believe it was with the Whimsical collection!

I started out by cutting the scallop paper from the 12x12" pad into strips, then using a 1" circle punch, I punched out my semi-circles. I then sorted them by color and started building my scallops in a rainbow order. Or rather, from lightest to darkest colors, using the same color per line.

I adhered these to my white background, just lightly, because I knew I was going to add some machine stitching over them. I didn't use a ruler or anything, just eyeballed the placement. I don't mind if it's a bit crooked!

Next, I figured out how I want the rest of my layout to look: where to place my title and photos. Once I was settled on the design, I glued everything down. I layered some tissue papers and ephemera pieces behind my photos and added a chipboard frame on top of the photo on the right. 

Using a piece of twine, I hung the One Fine Day chipboard tag onto my frame before attaching it to my photo. Then I went through the embellishments and pulled out a few things I thought would work: a few stickers, phrase thickers, leaf embellishments. I glued these down, stamped my date onto a sticker label and added my journaling. Finally, I bent up the scallops a little bit, to give them a bit of dimension. Because dimension is everything!

Hello 7th Grade - DT Layout for Paige Evans

Hi there friends,

I'm back with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team! This is my very first page with the amazing new Bungalow Lane collection! I'm so in love with the colors, patterns and all the wonderful embellishments!

I don't have fall photos yet this year and I'm too lazy to go through old photos, so I decided to go with some recent photos of my kiddo's first day back at school. My whole life, school start meant fall - only since we've been living in Germany does school often start already in summer. There was one year where it started beginning of August and I was so upset haha! I mean, normally it's the biggest heat here, and I was just so sorry for the kids having to sit in a class room instead of being at the pool! I always started in September and I can't accept this early start LOL.

That said, this year he started at the very end of August, so we can consider that fall - the weather was anyway pretty bad. The clothes he was wearing that day match Bungalow Lane quite nicely too! 

I chose the Geometric Apple cut file (Design ID: 381364) because it goes well with the school theme and because it has lots of openings that I could fill with various patterned papers. When I create my first layout with a new collection, I usually want to use every single thing, so a cut file like this is perfect for adding as many patterned papers as you want.

I cut it from heavy weight white card stock in a larger size, then backed it with pattern papers in pink, red and yellow tones. I considered going the blue boy layout route for a hot minute, but I prefer lots of color! It's weird though, because blue is my favorite color, so I should not have a problem creating a blue boy layout...

I layered tissue paper and a few ephemera pieces behind my photos to add some dimension. I glued down the apple on a navy striped background, then my photos as well. I started adding a few embellishments, die cuts, stickers, alpha thickers for my title. I wrote my journaling onto a label sticker and partially tucked it behind my photo. 

Since the upper left side felt a bit empty, I attached a chipboard there with my Tiny Attacher. I also splattered some white paint in that corner as well as the bottom right.

Wonderful - DT Layout for Paige Evans

I'm back today with a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! While I'm waiting for the amazing new collection, Bungalow Lane, to turn up on my doorstep, I created another page with Wonders!

This one is super simple and quick - honestly, it was not my plan, but sometimes things just happen...All I knew was that I wanted to use the fussy cut WONDERFUL letters for my title, in a rainbow sort of order. 

I had a scrap piece of this green patterned paper and since my son is wearing a green T-Shirt in the photos, I thought it would be a good match. I hardly ever use white card stock for my background, I'm not even sure why I went with that! I guess I just wanted something light and airy, maybe, hmm. But I couldn't just leave that green paper as it was, so I figured I could add a cut file to it. The first one that caught my eye was the Flower Borders cut file:

I picked one of the borders, then repeated it 4 times and welded them together, to create a background. I guess I could have at least backed a few of them with different patterned papers, but I didn't even think to do this at the time. Guys, it was sooo hot when I made this, I think my brain was fried hahaha! You might even see in the video how the fan that was next to me, was blowing things away on my desk :D Well, I guess hindsight is 20/20?

Anyway, I glued down the cut file, mind you, not everywhere, so I could still have some movement and dimension. I added a few puffy sticker flowers on top. I layered a few things behind my photos, such as tissue paper, die cuts and some stickers. I also attached some stickers and chipboard stickers to the photos. For my title I used foam adhesive so that it pops off the background.

Finally, I added my journaling and stamped my date. That's it!

I guess sometimes all you need is a simple layout to document those memories. Most important thing is that you do document them, right?!

Beautiful Day - DT Layout for Paige Evans

Hi there crafty peeps,

I'm stopping by today to share a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! I've used the Wonders collection on this page.

I rarely scrap pictures of objects, but I love this photo of the newest DMC floss additions to my collection, the colors are so lovely! Plus, they were my birthday present (to myself haha), so I decided they deserve their own scrapbook page!

My idea was to recreate the colors of the floss on the right side of this beautiful floral heart cut file. 

• Flower Heart Cut File (Design ID: 222462)

Paper 15 has all kinds of color stripes, so I cut it apart and pulled out the colors I needed. I was going to place the photo over this colorful section, but it didn't quite work the way I imagined, so I gave up on that idea.

I was then kind of stuck, because I never plan with the embellishments - I think I already mentioned this. So, I didn't have any idea how to finish my page ha! That's when flowers come in handy. They just work with anything in my opinion. I picked a few that matched my colors and started tucking them under my photo. It's a pity that I covered up that gorgeous cut file, really!

I didn't add a whole lot of embellishments, I layered a couple of die cuts behind my photo, I placed a sticker on top and a few of those colorful scallop chipboards in the top right corner of the page.  To finish off my layout, I stamped my date and added my journaling.

Happiness Blooms from Within - DT Layout for Paige Evans

Hi there crafters,

I'm back today with a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! 

The first thing that caught my eye this time, was this gorgeous burgundy paper, with white polka dot and doily design from the lovely Wonders collection. I wanted this paper to shine, so I didn't want to cover a whole lot of it with photos, embellishments etc.

I've used several cut files to create this page:

• Doily Mandala Cut File (Design ID: 289469)
• Layered Flower Cut File (Design ID: 328337)
• Layered Flower Cut File (Design ID: 328336)
• Layered Flower Cut File (Design ID: 328333)

I had a bunch of white layered flowers left over from my recent rainbow layout, so I thought I might as well use them on this page! Otherwise I'd just forget! 

I created a cluster at the top right, using the Doily cut file as a mat for my photo. I tucked a few die cuts under my photo, flowers, tags, stickers...Originally I wanted to go with a burgundy-white color scheme, but when I saw the Happiness Blooms From Within die cut, I decided to add navy in the mixture. Those three just looked great together! I ended up using that die cut as my title, too!

I wanted to add the white flowers somewhere around my photo - bottom left section or so. But I didn't like the look of that, so I decided to place them along the bottom left part of the Doily instead. I also added some burgundy enamel dots to the flowers. I think I used all I had in this color haha!

I stamped my date and added my journaling, following the curvature of the doily. I used navy ink and a navy pen, to match my colors in the layout.

Love - DT Layout for Paige Evans

Hi there crafters,

I'm back today with a new layout I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! 

I first picked the colors I wanted to work with, purple, orange and pink - one of my all time favorite color combos! The beautiful Wonders collection has all these colors, so I didn't even need to mix and match collections.

I then went through Paige's cut files - I usually don't have an idea what kind of cut file I'm looking for, unless I have a specific photo or theme in mind - I mostly just pick one that catches my eye in that moment. The cut file I chose for today's page is:

• Love with Hearts Background (Design ID: 301637)

I cut the file from white card stock (I use Alexandra Renke card stock). I decided to cut a few of the hearts off, because I didn't want the entire background to be covered. First, I traced the 3 letters and fussy cut them out from a purple patterned paper. I glued them on top of the white fall out pieces to make them sturdier, because I knew I was going to add them to the page with foam tape later. I traced the heart onto my photo - for this I used my Sizzix Die Pick tool (I think that's what it's called, I just call it "my pokey tool" haha), to just scratch the surface of the photo, instead of marking it with a pen. I fussy cut the heart out.

I then started backing the hearts. This didn't take very long because these are simple shapes and there aren't too many of them!

Once done, I glued down the cut file onto the background and added the letters and photo on foam tape as well.

This is where it always gets a bit hard, because I never plan with embellishments, so I never know if there's any that match my colors or theme etc. I'm not big on planning, what can I say! But luckily, I found a few I could use: some floral die cuts, chipboard hearts and butterfly/dragonfly and a few sentiment stickers. I scattered these around my page, then all I had left to do was to write my journaling and add my date (for which I used a die cut label). I was worried the white pen wouldn't be visible on this light purple background, but I really didn't want to use any other color (maybe purple, but I don't have a purple pen), so I just went with it. Thankfully, it turned out fine!

Endless Summer - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello crafty friends,

I'm stopping by today to share a new layout with you that I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team! 

As you know, Paige's new collection, Go the Scenic Route, was released recently, so I'll be using this wonderful new collection! It's perfect because we just got back from holiday, so I have a million new travel themed (and other) photos!

When I saw this orange/pink paper, I immediately thought of the sunsets at the beach that we often had to go see because they were just too beautiful. Unfortunately, my Selphy doesn't print vivid colors (like not even close to the real colors) but I think this photo still fits that background paper just fine. I generally stay away from scrapping photos like this because normally I don't find collections/papers that go well with them. I'm glad it worked out this time!

I cut the Endless Summer cut file (Design ID: 327560) from white card stock, then backed the waves with different blue tones of a single paper, plus I added a dark blue patterned paper at the bottom, behind the letters. I backed the sun with an orange patterned paper but didn't back the rays because I wanted the background to shine through.

I then fussy cut out all the letters from a variety of pink/red patterned papers, glued them on the white fall out pieces from the original cut file to make them hold up better and added them back into place using foam adhesive.

I chose a few embellies to decorate my page: chipboards and die cuts. Aaaaaaand something super cool! My friend Sandra posted a few buttons on Instagram that she made with the new We R Memory Keepers Button Press that I'm dying to have - and one of them was using Paige's paper from this collection. So, I asked her if I could have some of those buttons and in 2 days they were in my mailbox wooohooo. At that point I had several layouts ready, so I checked which one I could use the button for. I thought the middle of this large chipboard flower was the perfect spot for it :)

I wrote my journaling using a white gel pen, then I splattered some white acrylic paint all over my page (obviously covering my photo with a tissue paper). 

It's a very simple page but I think the stunning background paper adds so much to it! What do you guys think?

Cards for boys - DT project for Paige Evans

Hello there crafty people,

I'm stopping by today to share a bunch of cards I've created for the Paige Evans Design Team. None of which features flowers...wait whaaaaat?! I'm all for flowers. I mean, I'd always go with flowers on any card, especially when I don't use stamps. When I was a little girl, I got a book from a botanist friend of my parents, called "Zsófi kertje" (Zsófi's garden), because I loved flowers so much (plus she thought the little girl on the cover looked liked me haha). She figured maybe I'd become a botanist myself - a thought that never actually crossed my mind for some reason. In fact, I am so bad with plants it's comical. So I'll just stick to paper flowers that can't die on me :D. BUT lately I've realized I never have cards that my son can give to his friends, so I decided to make a few to have on hand when he needs them.

I've mostly used the Truly Grateful collection plus a few things from Horizon too. I went with a blue-green color scheme because there's plenty of papers and embellies in these colors in both collections. All of my cards are mounted on A2 size top folding card bases, which is my preferred format for my cards. 

I then selected and cut a few of Paige's cut files: Anchor (Design ID: 300203), Llama Alpaca (Design ID: 293591), Today is a Good Day (Design ID: 290292), Star (Design ID: 289468) and Fish Background (Design ID: 299191). I more or less designed the cards in Silhouette Studio already, so that I knew what size the cut files should be. I then backed them all with patterned papers.

The sentiments were a bit tricky and I swear I spent the most time on selecting those! I would have preferred to write Happy Birthday on all of them but I didn't want to use a stamped sentiment so I just went through all embellishments from both collections, multiple times, before I finally settled on these five. I like my sentiments to be meaningful - as in, I want to use something that makes sense when I give the card to someone. I didn't just want to add some random die cut. So you see why this part took me ages haha! But I think most of these will work for birthdays or at least as "just because" friends cards or so.

I was going to back this big Today is a Good Day sentiment but quickly changed my mind when I saw the size once it was cut ha! The thought of cutting al those miniature letters was just too overwhelming! Instead, I cut a bunch of strips of various patterned papers - which I've been loving to do for awhile - and created a colorful background. I then just glued the cut file on top. I added some of the inner pieces too, for interest.

I had to make a llama card because Maxim loooooves llamas. I'm not sure he will be too excited about the bling I put on it but he does have a friend who appreciates everything shiny, glitter etc :D. I used some dies to create my background as well as an embossing folder to add texture to the white paper at the top. This sentiment comes from one of the 2x2 paper pads!

Personally, I love this last card the most. I fell in love with this cut file when Missy used it on her amazing layout a while back and I've been wanting to use it ever since. Fish work for boys cards just fine :).

Make Your Own Magic - DT layout for Paige Evans

Hello there crafty peeps,

I'm back with a new layout for the Paige Evans Design Team! I haven't made a layout in like 2 months?! I've realised I can't focus on both cards and layouts at the same time, I have to be finished with all my cards before I can start working on my layouts. This is mainly because of lack of space - if I had a craft room, I could just set everything aside and work on other things. Now however, I have to clean up my tiny space in the kitchen ALL.THE.TIME before I can start on a new project uuuggghh. Anywho, I am just glad I finally managed to create some layouts! This is one of them:

I checked Paige's latest cut files and picked out the gorgeous Cut and Fold Butterflies Galore cut file (Design ID: 300213). I only kept one of the butterflies and deleted the rest. I then replicated it and lined them up the way I was planning to use them. 

To be honest I was going for something completely different but when I was checking the patterned papers and placed this floral one behind the cut file, I knew I had to use it. I just love all the colors peeking through - they remind me of paintball splatters for some reason! So I trimmed down the white card stock and adhered it to the left side of the floral patterned paper. I also added a thin strip of pink paper on the right side.

I layered some tissue paper, as well as a couple of journaling spots behind my photo, then glued it all down. I tucked some labels behind it too. Using foam tape I attached a small die cut banner with an epoxy sticker heart on top.

For my title I chose one from the Epoxy sticker pack -I love love love the font so much, I wish there were several packs like this in the collection haha! I adhered it to my layout, wrote a few words below it and stamped my date. Last but not least, I splattered some gold paint all over my page. Now that I have a couple of extra bottles of my favorite gold spray, I'm not stingy with it anymore hehe!
