You - cards for Fancy Pants Designs

Hi there,

I'm dropping in to share my latest projects for Fancy Pants!

This time I made a bunch of cards using mainly the Dream Big collection and the Little Things paper from Take Note.

I had just received my package from My Favorite Things with some new stamps and dies, and I really wanted to try some of them. One of the stamp sets is all about YOU, with lots of encouraging sentiments and I thought it goes perfectly with the Dream Big collection, which also has many embellishments with this theme.

First I did all the die cutting. All my panels and card bases are 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. For some of the cards I used patterned paper for the panel, for others white card stock. The letters for YOU are cut with an alphabet die, and to make them look like thickers, I cut 5 of each letter for every card and glued them on top of each other.

I die cut a window on this panel and to add some interest I layered it on another die cut panel, which is a white card stock with big polka dots. I adhered these two layers on top of a white top folding card base. I glued a die cut bow on this card, added a sentiment and some gorgeous floral ephemera pieces from the Dream Big collection.

Next up is a white on white card. I just love how clean this looks, even though I'm all about patterned paper! I actually was going to back this polka dot panel with patterned paper, but then I saw it on top of the white card base and fell in love! I popped up a die cut circle with some foam adhesive and added a bow, a sentiment and a couple of stars from the ephemera and puffy sticker packs. 

This next card I wanted to keep white and dry emboss it. I just love the added texture! For the flowers I used an old Dear Lizzy die. Gosh, I love paper flowers. Well any flowers for that matter! I adhered a floral wreath die cut from the ephemera pack on top of my circle window, as well as some flowers and a sentiment from the same pack. Some of these I popped up with foam adhesive to add interest.

Another card similar to one I described above, just with a bit different supplies.

As I mentioned above I wanted to back the polka dot panel with patterned paper - this is exactly what I did here. The rest is the same as above, with a few different embellishments.

And last but not least, I have a couple of bonus cards which I created with supplies I had left. These are simpler cards, without bow. As a finishing touch, I added some Nuvo glitter drops on these.

Stop and smell the roses - DT layout for Fancy Pants

Zsoka here with you today sharing a new layout!

It's November, the month of Thanksgiving in the States. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Germany (or not that I know of anyway!) but that doesn't mean we are not thankful for many things :).

I have a lot to be thankful for this year, big and small things. I could probably mention a thousand things. But when it comes down to it, the only thing that really matters in the big scheme of things is the health of my family. And God knows we faced some terrible news this year...

For my layout however, I decided to document a lighter, easier moment I am grateful for. I am fascinated by my son's love of nature, animals and plants, all living creatures in this world! He knows so much about animals, I have no idea how he can remember all that information! Kids are amazing, aren't they?! His love of flowers he probably gets from me, because I always stop and adore them everywhere we go. He does the same. Smells each one! So I chose to create a layout dedicated to this - hence the title, Stop and smell the roses.

I worked with the beautiful Dream Big collection and chose a photo of Maxim admiring some pansies. I wasn't bothered by the photo not matching my title (ie roses)! I found this gorgeous cut file in the Silhouette Design Store and couldn't wait to use it!

I first cut the file from a light patterned paper, then created an offset which I cut from a different patterned paper to give it a bit of definition. I wanted to create a monochromatic kind of look to let my color photo shine. I more often than not use black and white photos but when they are of flowers, I obviously want to keep the color!

The flowers and leaves I cut from textured white card stock and backed them with different patterned papers. I did not glue down the outer edges so they are more airy and dimensional. I added some puffy stickers to the flower centers.

I also didn't adhere the whole text to background only the bottom of each word. Again, to add dimension and create interest. I didn't want to cover up any of the cut file, so I tucked my photo behind it at the top and only decorated around the photo using puffy stickers and die cuts!

To finish off my layout I added my journaling, date and black ink splatters. Which was a bit of a funny story, because I was watching some series and something happened that I don't remember anymore, but I stopped splattering for a second and a big blob of black paint fell on to the middle of my layout! The horror haha! I had to tear off "smell" and cut it again in a bigger font so I could cover up most of the paint! You can still see it a bit at the letter M, but it's not too bad. So probably not a good idea watching anything while having paint in your hands, not that I learnt my lesson, ha!

Follow your dreams - DT layout for Just Nick

I'm back with you today sharing my newest layout I created with some awesome Just Nick cut files!

We are showcasing words/sentiments cut files this week and I picked the Dream Big cut file for this.  

Here's how my layout turned out:

I blew up the cut file and also stretched it because I wanted to have taller letters and cut it out from white card stock. 

I picked one of the last Fancy Pants collections for this layout, Dream Big, which fits my title and my theme. The background paper is a very old Theresa Collins paper I believe. I love grid papers for backgrounds! They are subtle but still not just plain card stock.

As usual, I backed the letters with different patterned papers. This is actually one of the reasons I love cut files, one can showcase many colors and patterns without them being too busy or overpowering. I then added foam adhesive to all the letters and tucked my photo in at the bottom of the cut file.

About the photo I chose...We visited the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, because my son is crazy about animals. He loves sea creatures especially. He always wanted to work with animals when he grows up, his latest dream is to be a marine biologist. I just wrote about how I'm sure this is going to change a million times and of course that is OK, he has plenty of time to decide! I adore how much he knows about every single animal! I honestly have no idea how he keeps all that information in his head. Kids' brains are fantastic! They just remember absolutely everything. Well other than how to clean up their rooms of course :D.

I typed up my journaling and cut it into strips, adding them in the spaces on both sides of the photo. I normally just write my journaling with a pen but I thought this would stand out more.

To embellish my layout I chose a few items from the same collection, die cuts, puffy and cork stickers and a clip. I added foam adhesive to some of them to create a bit of depth. 

I wanted to add a bit more red to the layout (red, my least favorite color no less!) so I tore off a strip from one of the patterned papers and adhered it to the bottom.

To finish off my layout I added a few navy blue ink splatters.

Dream. Dare. Do. Done - DT layout for Fancy Pants Designs

I'm back with you today sharing my latest project for Fancy Pants Designs.

This might be one of the simplest layouts I have ever done! I used the ever so dreamy Dream Big collection for this. I'll be honest, I generally avoid using ready made background papers, because the layouts come together so quick, I feel like I didn't put any effort in them. Weird, ha?! :) When I first saw this paper however, I immediately knew how I wanted to use it. I wanted to take it apart and put it back together, sort of like a puzzle, but with different sized circles.

I planned to use my Cameo for cutting a background that I then place over the paper, to make things simple. But I was working on this layout at 4am and my family was asleep so I could not use the Cameo. Instead, I took a couple of different sized cups and used them as templates to draw the circles all over the page. Then I fussy cut all of them out and put them back on a white background.

Now, I prefer dimensional pages and this one was completely flat. So I added some foam behind some of the circles and my photo, to create a bit of depth.

I used very few embellies (and basically only die cuts) because I wanted this paper to stay in focus. I originally wanted to use 2 photos, but then went with only one because I wanted to keep the biggest circle with the road on it and I didn't like the photos in other spots.

For my title I chose a die cut which I adhered down with the help of pop dots. I placed this a little more further down the page so it stands out.

I wanted to add a little something to 2 other circles, but no embellishments. I stamped the date in one and wrote the journaling in the other.

I splattered black ink around the page for a bit of contrast and that was it!

This might be a bit of an unusual layout for me, no cut files and all, but I still feel like it's me.

Yee-Haw - DT layour for Just Nick

I'm back with you today sharing a new layout I created for Just Nick.

As I was browsing the cut files, I came across the Star Background 5 cut file that reminded me of the Texas star.

Since we were on holiday in Texas, I knew I'd have plenty of photos I can use with this. I chose one I took in Fort Worth where we went to see the cattle drive and the Cowboy Museum Hall of Fame. Which is when my kid decided he absolutely needed to be a cowboy ha! So we bought a hat and a bandana which is what he is showing off here.

I went through my stash and picked out a few old papers and embellishments from various Fancy Pants Designs collections: Everyday Circus, Nautical and Making Waves, because these collection have red and navy in them. I used textured white card stock for my cut file and backed it randomly with patterned paper.

For my title I used pre-cut alphas from Fancy Pants, adhered them to white cardstock and fussy cut out with a small white border. I did this for two reasons, this makes them sturdier and also, they stand out more from the background.

I layered some tissue paper and project life cards behind my photo and also added a couple of ephemera pieces on my photo. Some are older stash items, a couple are from the new Fancy Pants' Dream Big collection.

I also wanted to add the little clip we got at the information office in Fort Worth. I cut off the pin in the back because I couldn't have laid down the layout flat otherwise, then just adhered it to my photo.

To finish off my layout I added a couple of buttons in matching colors and splattered some navy spray ink around the page.
